China's first overseas university of applied technology for vocational education lands in Cambodia

Wu Yan congratulated the establishment of Cambodian Chinese University of Applied Sciences. He pointed out that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia and the "Year of Sino-Cambodian Friendship", the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping's proposal of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, and the 10th anniversary of the concept of building a closer China-ASEAN community of destiny. The Year of China-Cambodia Friendship Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China and Cambodia have established the "Diamond Six Sides" cooperation framework (in six major areas, namely, politics, production capacity, agriculture, energy, security and humanities), and signed a new version of the Action Plan for China-Cambodia Community of Destiny. In recent years, Sino-Cambodian education exchanges and cooperation have been deepening, especially in the field of vocational education, the Chinese side has built 19 overseas educational institutions and projects, cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents for Cambodia's economic development and national construction. The University of Applied Science and Technology is the latest achievement of the cooperation between China and Cambodia in the field of education, and 2023 is the Year of Friendship between China and Cambodia, and 2024 is the Year of Humanism between China and Cambodia. The establishment of the Cambodian University of Applied Sciences is not only a colourful stroke of education for the "Year of Sino-Cambodian Friendship", but also a promising start for the "Year of Sino-Cambodian Humanities". The Ministry of Education of China supports China and Cambodia to carry out educational dialogue and exchange, provides scholarships for Cambodian students to further their studies in China, and supports cooperation in Chinese language education, vocational education, scientific research, digital education, etc., so as to make the "humanities" the "golden" part of the "six sides of the diamond". Afterwards, at the establishment ceremony, the awarding ceremony of school-enterprise cooperation training bases was held. Peng Binbai, Zhou Tianhua, Chen Wei and Cao Yumei jointly awarded plaques to 7 Chinese enterprises in Cambodia and 1 Cambodian local enterprise, including Huawei Technologies Cambodia Co. Ltd, China One Road Group Cambodia, Cambodia Star Hotel Group, etc., and 1 local Cambodian enterprise awarded the university-enterprise co-operation training bases. The relevant enterprises provided the University of Applied Sciences of Cambodia with instruments and equipments valued at 3 million US dollars, as well as financial support for the construction.
